The lake cave of Melissani is one of the landmarks of Kefalonia, and it is at a 2km distance from the beautiful town of Sami. The cave is 20 meters underground with stalactites that date about 2000 years. It is a dreamy spectacle, with imposing rocks and clear blue waters. The water in the cave is a mixture of seawater and freshwater, and it is about 20-60 meters deep. Geologists have discovered that underground tunnels connect the cave with the springs of the island.

FISCARDO
Fiskardo is a village and a community on the Ionian island of Kefalonia, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Erisos. It is the northernmost port of Kefalonia, a short distance from Ithaca. Fiskardo has a small and diminishing fishing fleet. The coast around Fiskardo is mainly rocky with numerous pebble-beached coves. The port serves ferry routes to the ports of Frikes (Ithaca) and Lefkada. It is 5 km north of Vasilikades, 24 km north of Sami and 32 km north of Argostoli. Cephalonia International Airport is 61 km to the south, by road (about 1½ hours). The community of Fiskardo consists of the villages Fiskardo, Evreti, Katsarata, Matsoukata and Tselentata. Fiskardo is also the name of the two kilometre long bay in which the port is located. Fiskardo and the dense forest in the surrounding area have been declared areas of great natural beauty and are protected under Greek law. In recent years a small tourist industry has developed, centred on luxury villas in the area around the village.
AGIA EFIMIA VILLAGE
Aghia Efimia is the main village of Pilaros region and it is placed along the east coast of Kefalonia. Here in Kefalonia is a well known village, as during recent years, Aghia Efimia from a fishermen village turned into a tourist place. Surrounded by green hills and due to its central position, it is the ideal place for those who love active holidays and want to visit the beauties of Kefalonia island. Indeed, it is in a short distance going south from the village of Sami and Antisami beach while, going to the opposite coast, there are the famous Myrtos beach and the village of Assos. In the surroundings of Aghia Efimia there are several ruins of ancient villages that make really charming the whole area. Not far there is also the Monastery Thematon which is right in the middle of a forest on Mount Agia Dinati. Ag. Efimia is also an excellent starting point if you have a boat for daily trips to Ithaka island and it's a good stop for boats as it has an equipped port.
ARGOSTOLI CITY
Argostoli, with a population of 8000 people, became Cephalonia’s capital in 1757. Even though many of the town’s imposing mansions were destroyed during the 1953 earthquakes, the new town which was built kept the quaint, Ionian style with well-laid out streets, spacious squares, many trees and alleys and a very lively port. In the centre of the city there are the Administrative House, the Town Hall, the Archaeological Museum, the Korgialenio Popular Art Museum, the Korgialenios Library and the newly-built "Kefalos" Theatre. At the port, the visitors can see Nikos Kavadias’ bust gazing to the endless sea. Kavadias was a poet who loved and wrote about the sea during his whole life. From the few works of the island’s British period which the earthquakes didn’t destroy is Koutavos bridge, built in 1813, which connects Argostoli with the opposite coast. Walking along Lithostroto (stone-paved street), the town’s central street, take a minute to visit Aghios Spiridonas’ church and Kambana square. Reaching the street at the port, you will see the market full of fresh fish and sweet-smelling fruit and vegetables. Further down many pastry shops and restaurants invite you to taste the local dishes. The people are hospitable, warm-hearted, easy-going and will not fail to help you and make your stay a memorable experience.
LIXOURI CITY
Lixouri is the second largest town in Kefalonia and the central town of the Palliki peninsula. It’s around a 45 minute drive from the islands capital Argostoli with our transfer premium vans. Lixouri is a large working town that has a lot to offer, it’s not as busy and bustling as Argostoli but not far off. It also has a much more Greek feel to it making it a good alternative to a purpose built resort like Lassi.
