Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, hides secrets and suprises below its rugged, sprawling vineyards, stunning cliffs, dreaming beaches and many Roman ruins. Kefalonia was devistated in the 1953 earthquake, so much of the island's arhitecture is modern. Yet there's plenty for the traveller to discover, including beautiful harbours, walking trails and the local cuisine.


Kefalonia's capital is Argostoli, the main port is Sami and ferry services also run from Fiskardo and Poros.


Before you come to Kefalonia for a visit you will need to arrange a flight and accommodation. Fortunately there are plenty of airlines that offer flights and flights from the UK tend to cost from €200 upwards. Accommodation actually you even don't need to arrande because there are many hotels and resorts that offers great rooms. but maybe in high season it could be a problem! The most popular resorts in Kefalonia are Lassi and Skala and as the largest resorts both have a great range of accommodation.

Getting There

AIR
There are at least two daily flights between Kefalonia and Athens, and connections to other Ionian Islands, including Zakynthos and Corfu.

BUS
Four daily buses connect Athens and Kefalonia via Petra using the various ferry services from/to Argostoli, Sami and Poros to the mainland.

FERRY
There are frequent ferry services to Kyllini in the Peloponnese from both Poros and Argostoli.
